So Soft and pristine, she lays asleep, properly endearing.
Infantile gentle breath has no knowledge of a world worth fearing.
The perfect roundness of her face is disturbed by just a dimple.
So like the one on my own chin loving her is even more the simple.
Breathing shallow baby breaths her little belly rising
I stare at such a perfect form with rapt absorption, memorizing
every inch so when she grows I can reminisce and say to all
(with my hand held two feet high) I remember when she was this tall.
I await those days, await first words and when you find your feet.
For now I savor utter you and breath in your heart\'s beat.
You do your part calmly laying on your back, arms spread wide
And allow yourself to fill my sight and stiffen my heart with pride
soundly sleeping you no naught of my paternal silent watch
and I so fear to break the spell I dare not even hotch
I fall asleep leaning there and gazing down at you
So I can be there when you wake to find the day is new.
